gwPrint v2.0 Amiga Text Formatter 6-Apr-90
Copyright © 1990 WallyWare All Rights Reserved
gwPrint is a ShareWare utility for printing text files. It offers a
wide selection of adjustable features for controlling paging, headers,
trailers, margins, and various print styles and sizes. The headers
and trailers are themselves configurable and may include a title, date
and page numbering.

use providing gwPrint is not sold and gwPrint's files remain together and
unaltered. gwPrint may be distributed by public-software vendors and user
groups so long as media and distribution fees remain competitive with the
current market. All other use and distribution of gwPrint requires Wally-
Ware approval.

ShareWare Depends on Your Support.
Before starting gwPrint, make sure your system has an ARP.library version
39.1 or later installed.
Start gwPrint from WorkBench or the CLI and adjust the settings as needed
by clicking the appropriate gadgets. Gadgets positioned above the `File'
gadget determine the print format. Point and Click with the left mouse
button to change them.
The `Page Size' variable displays the number of ( columns x lines ) for
the full printable paper size. This calculation is based on the page
height, page width, lines/inch and pitch settings.
Commonly used print formats may be saved with the `Save Settings' gadget,
and reloaded later with the `Load Settings' gadget. Save settings to the
`gwPrint.settings' file to set the initial startup settings. Both func-
tions use the ARP file requester to select the file.
Select the file to be printed by either typing in it's filename beside
the `File' gadget or clicking the `File' gadget and using the ARP file
requester. If you specify a title in the page header or the trailer,
you'll need a title string. Enter the title string beside the `Title'
gadget or create one from the filename by clicking the `Title' gadget.
To print a hard copy, click the `Print to Printer' gadget. Printing
begins immediately if the PRT: device is in memory.
To print to a disk file, click the `Print to File' gadget then select the
output filename with the Arp filerequester. The printer control codes are
included with the output.
Hopefully, most of gwPrint's features are self-obvious and a little
experimentation will answer any questions. Nevertheless, a few of the
features merit discussion.
Setting `Page Height' gadget to FF's disables normal paging and enables
FormFeed paging. In this mode, page breaks are controlled by placing
formfeed characters within the text file. Be sure the formfeeds are the
first character on a line. This feature disables trailers since the
printer is controlled with formfeeds instead of linefeeds. If there are
no formfeeds in the text file there are no page breaks.
To turn off headers or trailers, be sure that it's `Title', `Date' and
`Page Nums' are all set to `Off'.
`Page 1 Offset' is the number of lines at the top of the page that the
printer misses after a formfeed.
The Vertical Margin gadget controls top and bottom margins as well as
the gap between text and a header or trailer.
There are two condensed print settings, 15.0 and 17.1 cpi. Since both
settings send the same command to the printer, you will probably want
to use the pitch that best matches your printer's compressed print.
When a line of text is too long to fit within the specified format, the
excess is printed on a new line within the margins.
Tab characters are expanded to multiples of 8.
Clicking the left and right sides of gadgets rotates a setting gadget
different directions.
Three Alt+Key commands are available for editing filename and title string
gadgets.
Alt X = Move to Extreme Left
Alt C = Clear String Gadget
Alt V = Move to Extreme Right
Depending on your Printer Driver and Printer, some of gwPrint's features
may not work.
